Everything from general pick-ups and deliveries to personal shopping and deliveries are carried out by enthusiastic and capable personnel. Because we are not as affected by external factors such as high fuel., oil, insurance and maintenance costs, we are able to provide a more stable, reliable and cost effective service. Traffic congestion/parking problems also pose no difficulties. We can get closer to the pick-up and delivery points and so are often as fast or faster than our motorized competitors without the noise or pollution. Our cargo is kept secure in waterproof containers, which are insulated and kept cold in warmer weather.

Much of our work for private individuals is for those that either cannot get out to run errands/do their shopping due to age, illness, injury, or for those that simply do not want or have time to. Everything from the simple pick-up and delivery of library books, video tapes, to taking packages/gifts to friends or grocery/liquor shopping are done with efficiency and enthusiasm. We are not limited to a single store so can shop at a customer's favourite retailers and combine stops at numerous locations to complete an order.

Our commitment does not end at the door. For our clients with mobility difficulties, our job goes beyond simple shopping and/or delivery. Helping put purchases away (particularly refrigerated items), making sure they have everything they need to be comfortable and simply sparing a few moments to chat are just a few aspects that elevate and differentiate our service. In many cases, we are one of the few instances of outside contact for our customer and so provide much needed moments of company, companionship as well as a measure of safety. We take pride in knowing that, in many cases, we have delayed the necessity of customers moving to care facilities. Fresh Air Delivery was Founded in January of 2000 by Don Maguire. Don has always used a bicycle as the main source of commuting to and from work and the idea of Fresh Air Delivery was conceived as a healthy and necessary alternative to moving goods in the increasingly congested Urban Environment. Vancouver's Transportation Plan calls for little increase in road capacity over the next 25 years yet the population is expected to double in that same time. Traffic congestion and gridlock will affect everyone including motorized delivery vehicles yet a large percentage of Urban deliveries are within the capabilities of a bicycle with a strong utility trailer. This not only enables the deliveries to be made in a timely matter but also means the delivery vehicle isn't itself contributing to the problem.

Don worked for 4 years as the Technical Director of Cycling B.C. which is the Provincial arm of the Canadian Cycling Association - the sport governing body for bicycling in this country. Cycling BC is responsible for assisting in the promotion and organization of bicycling efforts in recreation, sport and advocacy. During his tenure at Cycling BC the testing programs for both the Downtown Bicycle Couriers and the Vancouver Police Bicycle Patrol were developed and administered. Don's education includes Marketing Management and Real Estate through the British Columbia Institute of Technology as well as Urban Land Economics through the Faculty of Commerce at the University of British Columbia.

Fresh Air Delivery has three trailer models that have been specifically engineered for this delivery service. All models use a standard removable container that is rugged and waterproof with a sealable lid. These trailers can transport from 6 to 12 containers depending on their size. This standard container has a capacity of 68L 18 U.S. gal.) bringing the total capacity from 408 to 816L (108 to 216 U.S.gal.) for the smallest to largest trailers respectively. We can also connect two trailers in tandem to more than double this capacity. Also, if necessary, the containers can be removed to deliver larger objects.

The very fact that, for every delivery we do, there is a reduction in the presence of a motor vehicle means an improved quality of life for our customers, their neighbourhoods, communities and ourselves. We take pride in providing a service that really has no negative side effects. We strive to be a valuable contributor to all the communities we are involved in. On a larger scale, we run a recycling program for a children's charity called the Sunshine Foundation, also know as Sunshine Dreams for Kids which provides equipment and dream fulfillment to severely disabled kids. We provide a free container(s) to any individual or business who wants to participate and collect and redeem return-for-deposit drinking containers with the net proceeds going to the Charity.
